Welcome Scotlands largest Community Sports Club.
Chairman's Introduction
I've always enjoyed playing football, I still do! When I was young I wanted my own pitch with flagpoles and proper goals, not jackets.
It was nice to dream.
In 1999 the SFA were in discussion with North Ayrshire Council and we were already discussing it with each other. After a number of joint meetings 16 of the towns football teams got together to form one Club. The main office bearers drove the Club forward and negotiated a lease for 2 eleven-a-side pitches, 2 seven-a-side pitches and a run down pavillion at Pennyburn Playing Fields in Kilwinning.
Kilwinning Community Sports Club was born and my dream was alive.
I couldn't do the Club justice with this short introduction therfore I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to come and see it for yourself. In the last few years not only have we improved and increased the existing football facilities for our member teams but we now have a golf green, a driving range and a first class fitness suite with over 2000 members.
These things were never discussed at our first meeting!
Neither was our floodlit, all weather multi-courts that were opened by the Sports Minister in 2005 or the full specification grass eleven-a-side pitches that were officially opened by the charismatic Ally McCoist in April 2006.
What a day, I was no longer dreaming, it was reality.
Come and see it, you will be impressed, however what is not immediately evident is the remarkable achievement of the people behind the scenes. We got together, we work together, and we built it for our community.
I am honoured to be part of of the team who has created our very own...
...Field of Dreams.
