Mental Health & Wellbeing: Suicide Prevention Project

In 2021, Kilwinning Community Sports Club launched a dedicated Suicide Prevention Project, supporting people across North Ayrshire who are experiencing mental health challenges.

Thanks to initial funding from the Scottish Government’s Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, we were able to establish a weekly support group focused on suicide prevention, emotional wellbeing, and creating a safe, stigma-free space for open conversation and peer support.

We’re pleased to share that we have now received further funding from the National Lottery Awards for All Fund, allowing us to continue this vital lifeline for another two years.

The group meets every Thursday from 10am to 1pm at the Claire Hodge Community Hub within Kilwinning Community Sports Club.

It’s a relaxed and welcoming environment, everyone is welcome. Whether you want to pop in for a chat, meet new people, enjoy a cuppa, or simply get something off your chest, you’ll be met with kindness, understanding, and support.

The group offers peer support, structured activities, and access to a trained facilitator who understand the complexities of mental health challenges. No pressure, no judgement—just a place to feel heard, supported, and connected.

This project continues to serve as a vital lifeline for individuals in our community, helping to reduce isolation, promote connection, and offer real hope to those who need it most.
